At the Union Labor Advisory Network, our mission is to connect, educate, and empower the union labor community by providing access to trusted resources, career opportunities, and meaningful support services. Through ULAnetwork.com and the ULA Network Charitable Foundation, we highlight the value of union labor through storytelling, workforce development, apprenticeship promotion, veteran support, and wellness education. We’re building bridges between union members, service providers, and future generations to ensure the legacy and strength of organized labor continues to thrive.
In the months ahead, we’re focused on campaigns that celebrate tradeswomen leadership, connect students to apprenticeships, support union veterans, and bring critical attention to mental wellness and member benefits. Whether you’re a union member, educator, veteran, or supporting partner, we invite you to get involved—subscribe, sponsor, share a story, or support our charitable foundation. Together, we are not just building careers—we’re building stronger communities through labor.
What happens when you take the grit, discipline, and teamwork of a Marine veteran and give them the tools to build a solid career in the unionized construction trades? You get Gary LaBarbera Jr., Business Agent for Teamsters Local 282 and Trade Advisor to Helmets to Hardhats, leading the charge in empowering veterans through union careers.
We sat down with Tim McCarthy, Business Rep for IBEW Local 25, whose union journey is nothing short of inspirational. It started in a non-union shop — where Tim’s talent in controls and automation was clear — but recognition was not. After being denied a raise for ushering in an entire automation division, Tim did what any proud, determined worker would: he walked out and knocked on the doors of IBEW Local 25.
